- Always send a quote first. Even for small jobs. It locks in scope and price, and gives you something to point to when the client tries to add "just one more thing".
- Require a deposit. 30-50% upfront on any project over $500. This filters out tire-kickers and ensures you're not working for free if the client ghosts.
- Use Net 15, not Net 30. Big agencies use Net 30 because they have payroll and overhead. You don't. Net 15 means you wait half as long for cash.
- Send invoices the day work is delivered. Not at the end of the month. The longer between completion and invoicing, the longer until you get paid.
